First Camp Wildcat and Tricats Benefit Aquathlon - October 8, 2006

Camp Wildcat and Tricats will be hosting their first of many benefit aquathlons. The event was strategically planned to fall just before the Tinfoilman, the largest triathlon competition in the area. Our aquathlon will follow the very same track and is held at the same pool, so the race will provide ample warmup for the subsequent triathlon.

Aside from providing good practice, the event serves another great purpose. Proceeds from the aquathlon go to support Camp Wildcat and benefit Tucson's youth.

What is an aquathlon?

"Aquathlon is the fun and fast-growing sport that combines running and swimming. Very little equipment is needed to compete and races are generally completed in less than 45 minutes. A typical aquathlon consists of a run followed by a swim, followed by a run. Distances vary, but are generally short, ranging from 1.5k runs and 1000-meter swims. Events can be modified in format and distances due to locations and water temperatures."
